Dear Reader,
BulkSolids Europe 2008 in Prague succeeded in bridging the gap between academia and industry. Experts from all over Europe and even Asia, Australia and the USA met to discuss the latest trends in the bulk materials handling industry. The 3rd BulkSolids Europe, which will take place on September 9-10, 2010 in Glasgow, Scotland will repeat the success of 2008 and take it even further!
If we look into the future then one main topic comes up that is of interest to all of us today: energy. Therefore, the focus of the 3rd BulkSolids Europe will be on energy. It is fascinating to realize that on the one hand energy is required to power bulk solids handling systems and that on the other hand bulk solids handling systems are required to supply the coal or biomass for power stations. Therefore, the scope of the 3rd BulkSolids Europe conference includes:
• extension/design of (new) import terminals for bulk solids materials for power generation
• energy saving measures for bulk solids handling systems
• control and automation of bulk material handling systems to optimize their operation
• characteristics of biomass materials versus the characteristics of for example coal
• options to utilize bulk material handling systems for handling biomass
• reduction of ambient impact of bulk solids handling systems
• intelligent logistics of bulk handling systems
• optimizing the performance of bulk handling systems by smart maintenance
I would therefore like to invite project managers, design engineers, contractors, consultants, plant managers and operators, researchers and students to submit their abstract.
The cooperation with IMechE, a UK professional institution dedicated to
improving the world through engineering, will add new, interesting aspects to our event and the enlarged exhibition – this year we are expecting approx. 25 exhibitors – will give you even better possibilities to make new business contacts!
I hope to welcome you all in Glasgow in autumn 2010 – let’s meet to discuss, to network and to enjoy the Scottish hospitality!
Yours sincerely,
Prof.dr.ir. Gabriel Lodewijks
Conference Chair
